Data Definitions

• Verified — reviewed by CIFIS staff against the original source.
• Auto-imported — sourced from a structured feed; not yet manually reviewed.
• Unverified — record exists but has not been checked.
• Flagged — known issue; the record may be inaccurate or out of date.

Freshness is bucketed from the record's last verified date.

• Fresh — verified within 30 days.
• Recent — 31 to 90 days.
• Aging — 91 to 180 days.
• Needs Review — 180+ days or unknown.

CIFIS distinguishes where a funder is headquartered from where a funder gives. Reports label these separately.

• HQ in state — funders whose headquarters is in the named state.
• Serving from outside — funders headquartered elsewhere that explicitly list the state as a geography they fund.
• Serving total — HQ in state plus serving from outside; the full population of funders active in the state.

National coverage: source ingestion spans all 50 states, DC, and U.S. territories. The verified opportunity catalog currently contains active records across 46 states as of the date at the top of this page.

CAPS Lite is a deterministic 0 to 100 readiness score decomposed into five locked factors.

• Funder Fit Surface — 20 points.
• Funding Clarity — 15 points.

The factor set is locked at v1.0. Any older public copy referring to six areas is out of date and being retired; the definitive source is CAPS Lite v1.0.

Funder-fit and opportunity match scores reflect alignment in the underlying structured data. They are intelligence signals for prioritization, not predictions of award. Always verify amounts, deadlines, and eligibility with the funder before applying.
