Consultant License & Permitted Use
Last updated: July 21, 2026
This page defines how consultants, fundraising strategists, grant writers, and philanthropic advisors are permitted to use CIFIS on behalf of client organizations. It supplements our Terms of Service and Pilot Terms.
Who this applies to
Any user who uses CIFIS to research, evaluate, or manage funding for an organization other than their own primary employer. This includes independent consultants, agency staff, fractional development leaders, and advisors under contract.
Consultant License required
The default Terms of Service require each user to act on behalf of their own organization. Multi-client use is permitted only under a Consultant License, which is granted by CIFIS on request. Contact us at hello@cifis.org to request a Consultant License and pricing.
Per-client workspace requirement
- Each client organization must have its own CIFIS workspace with its own tenant-isolated data.
- Consultants may be added as members of a client workspace with the client's authorization.
- Do not co-mingle data from multiple clients in a single workspace.
- Do not share client workspace credentials with other clients.
What consultants may do
- Perform funder research, readiness assessment, opportunity discovery, and pipeline management inside each client workspace.
- Export data from a client workspace for that client's use.
- Use Ask CIFIS to answer questions grounded in the client's own data.
What consultants may not do
- Use CIFIS to generate grant proposals, narratives, LOIs, cover letters, or budgets. Ask CIFIS is a read-only intelligence assistant and does not produce application copy.
- Move data between client workspaces without the receiving client's written authorization.
- Resell CIFIS access, reports, or exports as a standalone product without a written reseller agreement.
- Represent CIFIS output as an independent audit, certification, or funding guarantee.
Data ownership
Data entered into a client's workspace belongs to that client. Consultants are custodians while engaged. On engagement end, the client may retain, export, or delete their workspace data at their discretion.
Disclosure
Consultants must disclose their use of CIFIS to clients when CIFIS output materially informs a funding recommendation or strategy deliverable. See our AI Disclosure for the underlying grounding rules.
